What's missing is as important as what is there. In a complex, fragmented world, the perspective available to any one individual can appear very limited—a few pieces of the puzzle are all we can ever see. We piece together a world view from the fragments of our own perspective, working always with missing pieces . . . sometimes the pieces come together, sometimes they don't.
